  • Canggu is slightly pricier compared to other areas of Bali, especially when it comes to dining, beach clubs, and activities. However, it offers a range of accommodation options, with more affordable hotels, Airbnbs, and villas than places like Uluwatu. Bali, in general, is much more affordable than Western countries, with meal prices ranging from as low as 20,000 IDR for local dishes to up to 1,000,000 IDR for a high-end dining experience. Overall, Canggu balances affordability with a lively, vibrant lifestyle.

  • Getting around Canggu can be challenging on foot due to limited sidewalks and frequent vehicles encroaching on pedestrian areas. The most convenient options are renting a scooter, hiring a private driver, or using ride-hailing apps like Gojek and Grab. For a more detailed guide on navigating Bali’s transport options, check out my Bali Transport guide.

  • Canggu is famous for its laid-back vibe, stunning beaches, and vibrant surf culture—a true paradise for surfers and beach lovers. It’s also a hotspot for digital nomads and expats, thanks to its trendy cafes, lively beach clubs, and a thriving wellness scene. Canggu offers a range of accommodation options, from luxurious villas and affordable Airbnbs to stylish hotels that cater to every budget. What sets Canggu apart is its perfect blend of modern amenities and traditional Balinese charm, making it the ideal destination in Bali for a relaxed yet lively atmosphere.

  • Personally, I prefer Canggu over Seminyak because, while both are busy, Canggu has a more laid-back, surfer town vibe, which I find less hectic than Seminyak. Canggu offers a mix of trendy cafes, beach clubs, and affordable villas, whereas Seminyak is known for its upscale restaurants and luxury hotels. The two towns are close enough for easy travel, depending on traffic, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds during your stay in Bali.

  • Absolutely, Canggu is worth visiting, even if just for a few days. While I wouldn’t stay for more than a week due to the crowds and traffic, Canggu offers a unique experience that’s like taking a trip to the city within Bali. Once a sleepy surf town, Canggu has transformed into Bali’s most happening neighborhood, with lavish villas, swanky bars, Instagram-worthy cafes, and chic boutiques. It’s perfect for a weekend trip, where you can enjoy amazing food, shopping, and nightlife amidst the vibrant beach club scene.

  • In my experience, Ubud tends to be cheaper than Canggu. Ubud still retains much of its authentic Balinese charm, with more local businesses like homestays and warungs, which keep prices lower. On the other hand, Canggu has become more commercialized, with many businesses owned by Westerners, leading to higher prices. Additionally, Canggu is home to pricier activities such as beach clubs, nightclubs, bars, and aesthetic clinics, making it a more expensive place to stay overall.

  • Absolutely! Canggu is the place to be for nightlife in Bali. From world-class beach clubs and nightclubs to speakeasies and non-stop parties, Canggu offers something for everyone, every night of the week. The scene is vibrant and diverse, with events happening around the clock if you know where to go. Whether you're into live music, DJ sets, or just want to dance the night away, Canggu has it all.
