Bela’s Summer Beauty Buys (That You Won’t be Able to Live Without!)

In honor of the official start of Summer, i’ve decided to compile a list of my favorite Summer beauty buys that are sure to have you hooked not only until the leaves turn brown, but all year long! It’s no secret to my friends and family that I am, for lack of better words, a product whore. Some girls splurge on clothes, others on shoes- me, on products. My bathroom is bursting with skincare, haircare, and makeup. Half of which I don’t even use if i’m being honest- I have way too many choices. That being said, while I am not a professional, I have tried my fair share of beauty products, and am confident recommending my favorite stuff to you all.

Ouai Wave Spray ($12)

For the perfect beach waves, without the beach. Ouai’s cult favorite wavespray, which has won numerous beauty awards has earned a permanent spot in my haircare collection. A few sprays of this on wet hair goes a long way to create perfectly undone effortless Summer waves. Not to mention the smell is amazing.

Raw Sugar Coconut + Mango Simply Body Wash ($6.99)

I discovered this body wash when my old roommate left it in our shower after moving out, and I ran out of my own and decided to give it a go. I instantly fell in love- it smells heavenly, lasting the entire day without being overbearing. My boyfriend thought I had been using new perfume. (Available at Target!)

IT Cosmetics CC Cream with SPF ($39)

When it’s hot outside, the last thing I want to be doing is sweating through a full face of makeup. I like to wear something lightweight, with a bit of coverage, that also looks like skin. IT Cosmetics CC Cream gets the job done, all the while providing you with sun protection.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea ($7)

Mario Badescu’s products feel luxurious at a an unbeatable price. Needless to say, my shower and cabinet is dominated by this skincare line. I own all of his facial sprays, and while most people opt for the infamous Rosewater spray, this Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea mist is perfect for refreshing yourself, and your makeup, in the Summer heat. I like to carry a travel sized one in my purse/car for an instant boost.

LUSH Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub ($21.95)

If you have not yet tried this best selling product from LUSH, you are seriously missing out. This scrub gently, yet effectively, exfoliates your skin to leave you glowing.

OGX Protecting + Silky Blowout Quick Drying Thermal Spray ($8.99)

I have never been a huge fan of blowout products because I feel they leave a sticky residue on my hair, however, OGX’s Silky Blowout Spray is AMAZING! Not only does this provide heat protection when styling your hair, it cuts your blowdry time in half. A must-have for girls on the go.

Glossier Cloud Paint ($18)

Summer makeup to me is all about looking fresh, healthy, and dewy. Making the switch from powder to cream blush gave me that desired sun kissed glow. I love Glossier’s Cloud Paint, because it blends seamlessly into the skin and is user friendly.

Thayers Alcohol Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner ($10.95)

I love using witch hazel as toner because it deep cleans without being over drying and is all natural! I love Thayer’s brand because it comes in various scents like rose, lavender, cucumber, coconut water, as well as unscented if you have sensitive skin.

Maui Babe Browning Lotion ($13.99)

While my tan comes from my ethnicity, when I haven’t been in the sun in a while and am looking to gain a rich color, I use Maui Babe Browning Lotion. “A Local Secret” that gives you the deepest darkest tan all the while keeping your skin hydrated. This is hands down the best tanning lotion/oil i’ve ever used.

Kopari Coconut Oil Deodorant ($14)

I typically am not a fan of women’s deodorant because it never seems to work as well as mens, especially in the Summer and humidity of Hawaii. I am also not a fan of paying $14 for something as basic as deodorant, however, I am willing to splurge on Kopari. This all natural, vegan, deodorant is coconut-oil based, and the scent lasts all day.

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel ($14)

I use this cleanser twice a day because it cleans my face without stripping it of its natural oils to much. It lasts me a very long time as it is a gel rather than liquid. A must try.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer ($18)

Hawaii always seems to have a breeze, and for that reason I never wore lip gloss so as to avoid having my hair stuck to it as soon as I stepped outside. Fenty Beauty’s “Gloss Bomb” is ultra shiny, but not sticky. It reminds me a lot of Pat McGrath’s Lust Gloss, which beauty gurus swear by (and I love!), but it is $10 less with double the product.

Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Clearing Treatment ($26)

I have struggled with acne since middle school, and when people ask me how I got clear, Kate Somerville’s line EradiKate is always the first thing I recommend. For me personally, the two most common active ingredients in over the counter acne treatments, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, tend to lose their effectiveness over time. EradiKate’s active ingredient is Sulfur, which has worked WONDERS for my skin over the past year. At the peak of my very worst acne, I put this spot treatment on as needed and slept in it every single night. Now that my skin has cleared up, I hardly use it, but I do still keep it handy. 94dd00e6070f9f796fc032d8442e5901.jpg

If the price of this product is scaring you away, I feel inclined to mention that this product is more or less the same as Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion, which sells for $17. I have tried both, and while it’s hard to tell which I like more, Kate Somerville is what really worked for me at the height of my acne. I haven’t been able to put Mario Badescu to as challenging of a test, though I adore every product of his.

DERMAdoctor Ain’t Misbehavin Facemask ($48)

While I’m on the topic of the effectiveness of Sulfur (***disclaimer: i’m not a dermatologist***) I should mention the facemask that I use most often. While it is not my most luxurious, or even favorite facemask, it is certainly the most effective. With a whopping 10% sulfur, using this mask once a week has helped to keep my skin clear.

Ouai Leave in Conditioner ($26)

I’m honestly obsessed with every product from this line, but the leave in conditioner is one of my favorite products for sure. I color treat my hair, and this keeps it feeling hydrated while helping to detangle fine, textured hair as well. An essential for those who spend a great deal of time in the sun and saltwater.
