My Ride-or-Die Makeup Products

I remember the day I first discovered foundation like it was yesterday. I had just transferred from an all girls Catholic high school to a public school, and suddenly found myself unable to show up to school looking like i’d just rolled out of bed. The makeup aisle in Target seemed like a foreign land to me, but after much contemplation I finally settled on Neutrogena’s Skin Clearing Mineral Powder in a color that definitely wasn’t my correct shade. Nevertheless, it was love at first sight. I couldn’t even articulate what exactly about the foundation made my skin look better, but I was hooked.

From there on out most of my money was spent at Ulta (I would literally spend hours there) and my time was used to watch makeup tutorials on Youtube. Like any teenage girl, I dabbled in un-blended bright turquoise eyeshadow paired with red lipstick; it’s really truly amazing my mom never expressed her distaste, but eventually I got O.K. at it, and gained some common sense.

I still have A LOT to learn, but I’d like to think i’ve gotten pretty good at makeup. I’ve also tried about half the products in Sephora and Ulta at one point or another, and i’ve definitely developed some favorites that i’m going to share with all of you! I swear by these products, and I know you’ll love them just as much as I do.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup, $42Double Wear

I cannot say enough good about this foundation. I personally have really oily skin so I typically like a foundation that is matte and doesn’t get shiny throughout the day. I don’t know what Estée Lauder put in this foundation, but my best guess would be like the tears of Jesus because it makes your skin look AMAZING. It’s expensive but it’s so worth it.

NYX Shine Killer Primer, $13.99Nyx Professional Makeup Shine Killer - 0.67 fl oz

I’ve tried A LOT of primers, and this is definitely my favorite- which is awesome because it’s superaffordable! It creates a really matte, blurred effect on your skin, and does a great job of hiding your pores and making your makeup glide on smoothly.

Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade, $18dipbrow

For $18 this is a STEAL. It lasts forever, goes on smooth & STAYS, and is just overall a really great product that i’m sure you’ve heard of by now. I will warn you guys that mine melted, but my apartment is really hot because it’s Summer in Hawaii.

SmashBox Brow Tech Brow Shaping Powder, $25images

If you like super natural looking brows, this power is GREAT for drawing on individual hairs. It’s a little expensive, and honestly you can probably find a similar product that does the same thing for less, but this is just my personal favorite.

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer, $27

If you’ve ever watched a makeup tutorial on Youtube, you’ve likely heard about this legendary concealer. It blends so seamlessly into the skin, and into the undereye area, it’s insane! This product truly kept me looking alive when I had the WORST under-eye bags from not sleeping for 6 days at a time. Can’t recommend enough! A little bit goes a long way.

NYX Matte Bronzer, $9 NYX Professional Makeup Matte Bronzer - Medium

NYX is one of my absolute favorite drug store brands because they make high quality makeup for very cheap. I struggle with bronzers often because I feel like they often get cakey around the cheeks, but not this one. This has been in my makeup kit for as long as I can remember.

Tarte Park Avenue Princess Chisel Palette, $45

This product is relatively new, I bought it when it first came out about a year ago and instantly fell in love. The palette features 6 different shades, 2 for highlighting and brightening, and 4 for bronzing, contouring, and sculpting. This is a really great product if you like powder contouring, or if you want to go in and set your cream contour. It’s also worth mentioning that it smells AMAZING. I really like this palette for when i’m doing my friends makeup- they always want me to their makeup but i’m really tan so it’s hard using my own products because i’m so much darker than them, but this palette has lots of shades for everyone.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, $38 Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Translucent 1 oz/ 30 mL

This is another product that I think most makeup artists swear by. It bakes and sets makeup beautifully, and I think it’s hands down the best loose powder on the market, but it’s pretty damn expensive. Maybelline  makes a really great dupe for this product (for $8.99!) if you need a good setting powder but don’t want to completely splurge all your money.

FENTY BEAUTY BY RIHANNA Match Stix Trio, $54Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio Conceal, Contour, Highlight Medium 200

Rihanna came to play when she created Fenty Beauty. These contour match stix’s retail for $22 on their own, but $54 as a set. One color is for highlighting, one for contouring, and one for HIGHLIGHTING (shimmer). They come with a lot of product, and it’s very creamy, buildable, and blends into your skin flawlessly.

Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara, $5.9981-V-8whgyL._SY355_

I’ve tried a lot of expensive mascaras and I really feel like they don’t make much of a difference. I love the wand for this mascara because it makes it super easy to grab all your little hard-to-reach lashes. It also makes them look extremely natural.

It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Blush, $24

I love blush almost as much as I love bronzer, and IT Cosmetics CC Radiance Ombre blush has been in my makeup kit for a very long time. I really love the color options for this blush. One that I use is literally BRIGHT pink, but perfect for looking fresh out of the sun. The other is a more mild, peach color and I just love that one too.

Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter Palette, $45hud032_hudabeauty_bronzesands3dhighlighterpalette_bronzesands_1_1560x1960-a1ydg

Highlighter is without a doubt my favorite makeup product to ever exist, and even though I own countless palettes, Huda beauty’s is my favorite because the colors are just so sunkissed & BRONZE!!! I also love how it comes with both creme and powder colours.

Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette, $27huda-beauty_warm-browns_001_palette

I admittedly do not wear a lot of eye makeup, but when I do it’s usually from this palette or whatever bronzer i’m wearing. This palette is tiny, portable, has great colors, and blends out beautifully.

Lorac TANtalizer Buildable Bronzing Powder,$32lorac-tantalizer-bronzing-powder-golden-girl-d-20170629170907293_567860

The shade “Golden Girl” works as a bronzer, highlighter, and eyeshadow. It’s an expensive bronzer but has multiple uses and looks STUNNING.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kits, $29Kylie-New-LipKit-Exposed

A lot of people think that Kylie Jenner’s signature lip kits are overhyped, but i’m here to tell you they are most certainly not. When I first tried these I ordered 3 of the matte metal lip kits, and I was a bit skeptical at first but the formula quickly changed my mind. I put on my Kylie liquid lipstick before work, and 7 hours later it will STILL BE ON. My mom even noticed how long it would stay on me and she went and bought a bunch of them herself. I’m ashamed to say I probably own about 25 colors now, but i’m telling you it’s the best formula I have found for a matte lip yet.
